With 2015 drawing to a close, here’s a list of movies to watch out for in 2016 that we at Campus Plus are definitely going to be looking forward to:

1. X-Men: Apocalypse

Release Date: May 27, 2016

What We Know So Far:  Apocalypse, the first and immortal mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe recruits Magneto (Fassbender), Angel (Hardy), Storm (Shipp), and Psylocke (Munn) to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop Apocalypse.

2. Captain America: Civil War

Release Date: May 6, 2016

What We Know So Far: The movie’s plot will be tied into the aftermath of The Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, in this sequel our heroes won’t be fighting villains, but instead other heroes. Captain America will be seen as a fugitive in the eyes of Iron Man and S.H.I.E.L.D. following his resistance to a regulation that will force superheroes to register with the government.

3. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Release Date: March 25, 2016

What We Know So Far: It will be the first film to feature both Batman and Superman, as well as the first theatrical film to feature Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash. Gotham City’s own formidable, forceful vigilante Batman takes on Metropolis’ most revered, modern-day savior, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs. Whose side are you on? *winks*

4. Star Trek Beyond

Release Date: July 22, 2016

What We Know So Far: The USS Enterprise crew, led by Captain James T. Kirk, have been attacked by a powerful unstoppable wave of unknown aliens, who destroy the Enterprise, leaving them stranded on a new planet where they find themselves in conflict with a new ruthless enemy, while finding a way to get off the planet.

5. Deadpool

Release Date: February 12, 2016

What We Know So Far: A former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

6. Independence Day: Resurgence

Release Date: June 24, 2016

What We Know So Far: It is the sequel to the 1996 film Independence Day. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. However, the aliens were able to send a distress signal before their final defeat which results in a new task force of alien ships coming to Earth and threatening the human race once more. Will mankind’s new space defenses be enough?

7. Suicide Squad

Release Date: August 5, 2016

What We Know So Far: Super heroes aren’t the answer to every problem. Sometimes, extreme situations require extreme measures…or extreme individuals. Deadshot, a precise marksman and assassin; Harley Quinn, a peppy but psychotic villain; Captain Boomerang, the man who turns boomerangs into lethal weapons; Enchantress, a powerful sorceress who can wield magical energy; and their sometimes field leader Rick Flag, an elite soldier are assembled by their director Amanda “The Wall” Waller to execute dangerous black ops missions in exchange for clemency.

8. The Divergent Series: Allegiant

Release Date: March 18, 2016

What We Know So Far: The third film in the franchise will focus on what Tris and her friends find on the other side of the wall. The action-packed trailer gives us the first look at The Bureau of Genetic Welfare, the group who created the factions.

9. Now You See Me 2

Release Date: June 10, 2016

What We Know So Far: It is the sequel to the 2013 film Now You See Me. Most of the previous cast members are returning for the sequel, including Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine. However, Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex) will replace Fisher, and Daniel Radcliffe has joined the fray. The question is what Morgan Freeman will be up to this time, after being duped by Mark Ruffalo in a rather predictable twist from the end of the first movie. Who is the villain who will likely end up getting screwed over by the team now? We don’t really get an idea of the story that will be in play this time, but we do get to see plenty of new visual trickery from the Four Horseman.

10. Kung Fu Panda 3

Release Date: January 29, 2016

What We Know So Far: When Po’s long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible—learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas!
